Lux Bathroom Renovation – Takapuna
Project Overview
This full ensuite renovation transformed a dated, dark bathroom into a bright, modern, high-end space. The project included a new toilet, walk-in shower, freestanding bath, freestanding bath mixer, and double vanity, along with a complete upgrade of all in-wall plumbing pipework.
To maximise natural light and create a more open feel, the existing internal tiled wall was replaced with a half-height fluted glass partition, while a new skylight flooded the room with natural light.
Challenges
Precision plumbing set-outs were critical throughout the project, particularly for the freestanding bath mixer. The mixer body had to be recessed into the existing concrete floor, requiring the slab to be carefully ground out. Accurate positioning was essential, along with installing extended fixing bolts to securely anchor the mixer body before the bath and final trim were fitted.
The 200kg freestanding bath could not be carried up the internal stairs. A crane was required to lift the bath to the third storey through the master bedroom sliding door, where four additional labourers assisted with manoeuvring it into position while the plumbing connections were completed.
Plumbing & Gas Solutions
Worked closely with the builder and tiler during the planning stage to coordinate tile modules, grout lines, and fixture locations before any pipework was installed. This ensured every mixer, outlet, and plumbing fixture aligned perfectly with the finished tiling.
Coordinated a crane lift to safely deliver the bath to the third-floor ensuite through the bedroom sliding door.
Organised additional labour to safely position the bath while our team completed the final plumbing connections.
Outcome & Result
The completed ensuite is a bright, luxurious bathroom that feels significantly larger and more inviting than the original space. The addition of the skylight, lighter colour palette, fluted glass partition, and premium fixtures has created a timeless, high-end finish, while the upgraded plumbing provides long-term reliability behind the walls.
