High-End Renovation & Extension – Torbay
Project Overview
This project involved a complete high-end renovation and extension, including:
- Three new bathrooms
- New kitchen
- Full house re-pipe
- Upgrade of the incoming water supply and watermain
- Supply & Installation of a Rinnai
- HD250 continuous flow gas hot water system
- Supply & Installation of a Rinnai Linear gas fireplace
Challenges
This project spanned approximately eight months, so communication and coordination between all trades were critical to keeping everything moving. Early in the demolition phase, asbestos was discovered in the roof space, bringing the project to a temporary stop while it was safely removed by specialists.
As we upgraded the home’s plumbing system, we also discovered the existing 20mm watermain was too small to supply the required flow rates for the new fixtures. We quickly identified the issue and upgraded the watermain to a larger diameter, ensuring the new plumbing system performed as intended.
Outcome
The completed renovation delivered a premium plumbing and gas solution to match the quality of the home. The upgraded watermain and new pipework provide excellent pressure and flow throughout the property, while the continuous flow hot water system delivers reliable hot water on demand.
Combined with the Rinnai gas fireplace, the result is a modern, high-performing home backed by quality workmanship and close collaboration with JMC Build from start to finish. We install the HD250 continuous flow water heater on the new extension only to reduce any hot water delays. The existing part of the house was left on the existing hot water supply. With big houses like this we want to reduce the developed pipe lengths on hot pipework to give much quicker hot water delivery times.
